About therapy
PSYCHOTHERAPY
I believe that a therapeutic relationship built over time and underpinned by trust is key to the success of any therapy
I provide a confidential and safe space where I will join you with compassion and without judgement. My job is not to give you advice or tell you what you should do. Instead, I will listen intently to you and I might offer my reflections or an alternative perspective. You can tell me if things sound right or not, and together we will work towards increasing your understanding of yourself and your way forward.
I use an integrative approach and work collaboratively with clients to meet individual needs. I draw upon several modalities, including Psychodynamic (early development and unconscious processes), this may well involve looking back at your past experiences and noticing they impact upon your present.
Many people feel an initial reluctance to ‘open the can of worms’ but done in a supported and paced way, this work can be a powerful and enlightening thing to do, leading to real and lasting change.
I also use elements of cognitive behavioural therapy as I recognise that alongside the deeper work, clients also often want some ‘here and now’ help; techniques and practical ideas that they can try.
Each client is an individual and I will tailor the sessions to meet your own needs. We regularly review the work together to check how things are going.
I have experience of working with:
Anxiety
Depression
Work-related stress
Grief and loss
Self-harm
Suicidal thoughts
Anger
Self-esteem issues
Relationship and attachment issues
Bullying
Abuse – mental, physical and sexual
Identity issues
Testimonial
“I am grateful for your honesty about things that friends and family would not or could not say to me.”
Alice is very compassionate, understanding and non-judgemental in her approach which helped allow me to be more honest.
